We believe good standards of dress promote a positive attitude to work and behaviour and identify students to local residents and future employers as members of an efficient organisation. The co-operation of all parents/carers is requested to ensure that students are in correct uniform to and from the academy as well as during normal school hours.

Any parent/carer who has any issues with purchasing any items of uniform should contact the academy as we may be able to support with second-hand items.
Please note that Lift Greensward makes the final decision as to what is or is not acceptable in all aspects of a student’s appearance.

Trainers with a non-marking sole, Astro trainers or moulded stud boots (for football only) and shin pads (for contact sports) if required.
Jewellery
Students are allowed to wear a watch (no smart watches), one pair of small stud earrings (i.e. one in each ear lobe only) and a medic alert chain if necessary. No other jewellery should be worn. No body piercing is allowed, including tongue, eyebrow and nose and in any part of the ear other than in the lobe.
Hairstyles
Hairstyle is an important aspect of the image central to the individual and the image the individual creates for Lift Greensward. No extreme hairstyles or non natural coloured hair are permitted. Any hair bands, clips, etc should be plain navy, white or black.
Make-up
The rules are very clear. There is to be no make-up worn by any students in Years 7-9 inclusive. Minimal or very discreet make-up is permitted in Years 10 and 11. This, however, does not include the wearing of fake tan, false eyelashes, tinted or coloured eyebrows, false nails or nail varnish.
If any student is deemed to be wearing make-up they will be asked to remove it. Persistent offenders will risk further sanctions.
Students should note that this code provides a set of guidelines only; it cannot cover every
possibility or permutation. Clothes should be smart at all times and suitable for an indoor,
academic and working environment.

For Lessons:
Pens (blue or black ballpoints), pencil, ruler, rubber, scientific calculator, colouring pencils, glue stick, reading book, highlighters and a green pen.
Food Technology: A large, labelled Tupperware type container
English: Reading book, mini dictionary/thesaurus.
Spanish: Small Spanish-English dictionary (compulsory).
Art and Design: A4 sized sketchbook with good quality paper. You can either buy your own or ask your parents to purchase one through their ParentPay account. Sketchbooks can be collected from the Art department during your lesson. You must bring basic stationery equipment to all Art lessons and a couple of good sketching pencils (2B/4B) would also be advantageous.
Maths: Ruler, protractor, compass, Casio calculator fx85-GTX (solar powered preferable).

Office opening hours: 8.00am to 4.00pm (3.30pm on Fridays)
Every effort will be made to reply to telephone calls or emails as soon as is feasibly possible, but we would ask parents to bear in mind that members of staff may have a full day's teaching timetable and therefore will endeavour to respond within two working days during normal school hours. Some staff who work part time may not access emails until they are in school.
If you would like to see a member of staff, please phone our Main Reception in advance to make an appointment. If you do not have an appointment you will not be seen unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Concerns about individual subjects should be referred to the subject teacher in the first instance. More general concerns should be referred to your child’s form tutor in the first instance. Our SEN Co-ordinators are Mr M Aitken and Mrs K Turner. Please see communication flowchart here.
